Nightfall AI, the market champion in cloud data breach prevention (DLP), has introduced the first complete data security platform designed especially for Generative AI (GenAI).

Nightfall for ChatGPT, Nightfall for LLMs, and Nightfall for SaaS are the three Nightfall products offered by GenAI.. Nightfall for ChatGPT integrates directly with the browsers of end-users to obfuscate sensitive information sent in prompts. This tool has already been implemented by companies such as Snyk that are at the forefront of workflow innovation. Nightfall for LLMs is an assortment of developer APIs that detect and redact the data input by developers to train large language models.

These APIs have been incorporated into the workflows of numerous industry executives. Lastly, Nightfall for SaaS integrates with SaaS applications such as Notion and Teams to secure sensitive data such as PII and PHI prior to transmission to third-party processors. Innovative software corporations such as MovableInk, Aaron’s, and Klaviyo have implemented Nightfall for SaaS. Today, these products are all available.

Eric Cohen, a Nightfall client and vice president of security at Genesys, summarizes, “Generative AI offers significant productivity advances across teams for organizations… However, prior to Nightfall AI, there was a paucity of security products that allowed us to use these kinds of tools safely.”

One in five Nightfall consumers expose sensitive information at least once per month. This evidence of pervasive data proliferation is the reason why many companies, including Amazon, Apple, Verizon, JP Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Citigroup, have warned or prohibited their employees from using GenAI applications such as ChatGPT (The Washington Post, Forbes, Fortune).

Regarding the use of GenAI in the workplace, CISOs, security executives, and IT leaders have three main concerns. First, they are concerned that chatbot prompts may contain confidential information (such as software credentials or customer PII) that employees have access to. Second, they are concerned that employees may inadvertently expose sensitive company information by utilizing SaaS applications that utilize third-party AI sub-processors such as OpenAI and Anthropic. Engineers and data scientists constructing and training their own LLMs using confidential data is their third and final concern. A recent incident in which users duped ChatGPT into generating active API keys for Windows underscores this final concern.

Isaac Madan, CEO and co-founder of Nightfall, explains, “GenAI has the potential to offer substantial productivity benefits for employers and employees, but the absence of a comprehensive DLP solution is hindering the safe adoption of AI.” As a consequence, many organizations have either completely blocked these tools or resorted to using a patchwork of security products to mitigate the risk.” This conflict led to the development of Nightfall’s most recent innovation, Nightfall for GenAI.

Frederic Kerrest, co-founder and executive vice chairman of Okta, praises Nightfall and equates its most recent initiatives to those of Okta in its infancy. “When using Nightfall, I have noticed many parallels with Okta’s early vision, which centralized the security of user access and management for all cloud applications. Nightfall is now doing the same for cloud and Generative AI data security.”
