In order to accelerate go-to-market transformation and operations, a former leader in e-commerce at Accenture contributes expertise in solution selling, services, implementation, and ecosystem alliances.

It was revealed that BigCommerce, an open software as a service (SaaS) composable ecommerce platform for rapidly expanding and well-established business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) brands and retailers, has appointed Travis Hess, a senior ecommerce and technology industry expert, as its president.

As the appointed go-to-market leader at BigCommerce, Hess will take on the critical role of propelling the company’s top-line growth while also working to enhance its profitability margins. He will oversee the strategic and operational expansion of BigCommerce on a global scale. Furthermore, Hess will hold comprehensive accountability for the operations that handle the marketing, sales, and customer service of the company’s ecommerce platform. Additionally, he will be responsible for managing the professional services and nurturing the relationships with agency partners.

According to Hess, “I have long liked BigCommerce’s open platform and product strategy.” Hess made this observation after spending over twenty years working in the enterprise ecommerce sector. The opportunity to make a contribution to our differentiation, to seize market share, and to establish ourselves as the pioneer in the forthcoming era of enterprise ecommerce is something that I am exceptionally excited about.

According to Brent Bellm, CEO of BigCommerce, “Travis is a notable figure in the field of e-commerce.” As a result of his unparalleled e-commerce experience across the whole ecosystem, he has decided to join BigCommerce. He has a comprehensive understanding of the strengths and vulnerabilities of each platform, and he is of the opinion that BigCommerce is the most effective enterprise platform now available on the market. Our leadership team in Austin is excited to have him join us, and we are thrilled to welcome him.

Hess is a seasoned professional in the field of e-commerce, having held senior leadership positions for over 15 years across a number of the most prestigious and successful commerce firms and consultancies. During the year 2022, he was recognised by Signifyd as one of the 30 Most Influential in Ecommerce. He also sat on partner advisory boards for Shopify, Klaviyo, SAP/Hybris, and Rackspace.

Most recently, he held the position of managing director at Accenture, where he was responsible for driving the company’s go-to-market strategy and direct-to-consumer commerce product. In addition to that, he handled Accenture’s Shopify collaboration, which was global. Prior to that, he held the position of executive vice president at The Stable, a prominent omnichannel commerce firm that Accenture purchased in August of 2022. Before then, he served as the chief commercial officer and was elevated to the position of chief executive officer at BVA, which was one of the most well-known direct-to-consumer (DTC) and Shopify agencies in the world.

In December 2021, The Stable purchased BVA. Prior to joining BVA, Hess had a number of top leadership positions, including those at Amplifi Commerce and LiveArea, a worldwide commerce agency that is now a part of Dentsu/Merkle. At LiveArea, he served as chief revenue officer and general manager. By appointing Thom Armstrong as vice president of Americas enterprise sales, BigCommerce has additionally fortified its sales force.
