Spline, the collaborative 3D design platform, has recently announced the introduction of Android support, enabling users to design for Android in 3D for the first time. This update allows designers to build interactions and deploy natively to any spatial device, mobile app, or website without needing to write code. With this addition, Spline becomes the only 3D design platform to offer these capabilities across both Android and Apple ecosystems. The latest release also includes several new features, such as a real-time API and WebHooks, which can integrate with AI to create immersive AI-driven 3D experiences.

In addition to these new capabilities, Spline disclosed that it has acquired $10 million in Series A funding. Gradient Ventures, Y Combinator, Firestreak, and notable industry executives such as Jorn van Dijk (CEO of Framer) and Guillermo Rauch (CEO of Vercel) participated in the funding round, which was led by Third Point Ventures. Dan Moskowitz, a Partner at Third Point Ventures, has been appointed to Spline’s board of directors. The funds that have been raised will be allocated to the ongoing development of the product, with an emphasis on the improvement of AI tools for 3D designers and the simplification of the creative process.

Dan Moskowitz, Partner at Third Point Ventures mentioned that they were impressed by how intuitive and collaborative Spline is, making it easy to bring designs to production. Traditional 3D design tools, many of which have been around for decades, are complex and difficult to master. Spline’s early success and the innovative use-cases it inspires show that it’s changing the way people approach 3D design and its potential applications.

Revolutionizing Content Creation

Spline offers a web-based platform that allows designers to create 3D content and interactive experiences without the need for coding. Its user-friendly interface and robust features have attracted millions of users worldwide, from individual designers to large enterprises.

“Previously, creating interactive 3D content for mobile required using a game engine, which posed significant challenges for designers,” said Alejandro León, founder and CEO of Spline. “It didn’t make sense for designers to learn complex game engines just to create 3D content for apps. We aimed to change that fundamentally. 3D is the future of content creation, and we’re making it as simple and powerful as possible by equipping designers with the tools they need to bring their ideas to life.”

With its expansion to the Android ecosystem, Spline now supports 3D design for a wide range of devices, including phones, tablets, smartwatches, smart TVs, and Android Auto. This follows Spline’s earlier support for the Apple ecosystem, ensuring that 3D content can be experienced across various platforms, including Apple’s Vision Pro.

Spline also offers AI Generation tools integrated into their 3D editor, featuring capabilities like 3D vector editing, motion, interactive experiences, physics, particles, and more. Since its launch, Spline has received widespread acclaim from the design community for its intuitive interface and tools. The platform has been adopted by leading companies across different industries, highlighting its versatility and ability to transform 3D design workflows.

As the demand for 3D content continues to rise across various industries, from e-commerce to gaming to spatial computing, Spline stands out as the leading platform for designers aiming to create immersive, interactive, production-ready 3D experiences.
